Every byAdunni bag is handmade from acrylic beads with a satin lining, which means it needs slightly different care than a leather bag. None of it is complicated — but a couple of the "normal" things people do to bags can actually damage beadwork, so it's worth five minutes to get it right.
Marks on the lining
If anything gets on the satin lining inside your bag, don't scrub it. Dab gently with a clean, slightly damp washcloth and let it air dry. Satin marks easily under pressure, so blotting rather than rubbing is the difference between a mark that lifts out and one that sets in.
Don't overload it
This is the one people don't expect: our bags aren't made from an elastic material, so packing them past what they're shaped for will stretch and distort the beadwork over time, and in some cases cause real damage. Treat the shape you bought as the shape it's designed to hold — if you're used to leather bags flexing to fit "just one more thing," beaded bags don't work the same way.
Leave the wiring alone
Some of our styles use internal wiring to hold their shape. Don't cut, bend, or remove it, even if it seems like it's not doing much — it's structural, not decorative, and removing it can damage the bag permanently.
Keep it out of direct sun and heat
Acrylic beads can warp or discolour with prolonged heat exposure — think a hot car dashboard or a windowsill in direct sun, not just everyday wear. Store your bag somewhere shaded and at room temperature when you're not using it.
Spot clean only
Never submerge or machine wash a beaded bag. If the beads themselves need cleaning (not just the lining), a barely-damp soft cloth wiped gently over the surface is enough. Skip harsh chemicals or anything abrasive — they can dull or strip the bead finish.
Why the extra care is worth it
Each bag takes upwards of 6 hours and 500+ individual beads to make by hand, so a little extra care goes a long way toward keeping it looking the way it did the day it arrived — for years, not months.
